In a Facebook poll of 3,104 respondents, 22.2% chose “Photo 9”. How we count
Nine photos split the vote so evenly that the winner needed only 22.2% to take it — Photo 9 beat runner-up Photo 8 by a mere 1.4 points, 689 votes to 647. Photo 8 actually held the lead for the first 80 days; Photo 9 didn't pull ahead until day 81, then defended that edge for the rest of the 183-day run without ever building real distance.
The two frontrunners drew different crowds: Photo 9's identified voters ran 80% women, while Photo 8 pulled a far more mixed audience at 63% women, 37% men. Add France — the single biggest country bloc — favoring an entirely different photo, Photo 7, and the winner looks less like a consensus pick than the top scorer in a fractured field.
- Final margin · Photo 9 beat Photo 8 by just 1.4 points, 689 to 647 votes
- Late lead change · Photo 8 led 80 days before Photo 9 overtook it on day 81
- Gender split · Winner's crowd was 80% women vs 63% for the runner-up
- Geographic dissent · France, the largest bloc, backed Photo 7 — not the winner
