Across 272 days and 3,818 votes, "Les mots" with Seal never dipped below 47% of the running total — not once. It opened at 50% on day one and closed at 48.7%, a nine-month poll that produced a single, flat storyline: one song, comfortably ahead, the whole time.

The runner-up, Jean-Louis Murat's "Regrets," held steady around 30% but never mounted a real run. It out-polled Seal only among women in raw counts elsewhere in the field — here it simply trailed, day after day, while three other duets split what was left: 11%, 6%, and 4%.

• Floor, not ceiling · Seal's duet stayed above 47% every single day of 272
• Gap that held · Runner-up Murat's track sat ~19 points back, unchanged
• Women's pick · Seal's duet drew 100 women to 62 men, its widest split
