The lead changed hands three times in the first fortnight — Così com'è out front on day 1, Domani smetto grabbing it by day 2, Deca dance stealing it back on day 11, Domani smetto reclaiming it on day 15. That was the whole fight. By roughly day 35 its margin over Deca dance settled near 26 points and simply held.

From there it's a straight line: 270 days where the gap barely moved a point in either direction, closing at 26.3% on 760 votes. But that's a plurality, not a mandate — 11 options split the field so thin that L'italiano medio's 15.2% was enough to lock second, and three in four voters picked someone else entirely.

• Three flips, then nothing · Lead changed hands three times by day 15, never again after.
• 26% wins, 74% dissent · Domani smetto took it with just over a quarter of 2,887 votes.
• 270-day stalemate · Margin barely moved a point across the back nine-tenths of the race.
• Italy vs. the pretender · Italy's votes backed the winner; the U.S. pack favored one-time leader Deca dance.
