Two days in, No held a modest lead. Then day 3 flipped it to Yes — and that placement held for the rest of the poll's 305-day run. Over the following 302 days the margin crept from just 54% to a final 65.4%, gaining barely a point every few weeks. This wasn't a comeback; it was a decision settled almost immediately, then rubber-stamped by 2,700 more votes trickling in.

The demographics sharpen the picture: Yes backers ran about 95% female, No backers 87% — a real but narrower gap. Geography split by home turf, too. The UK and US both leaned Yes, but Ireland, One Direction's own backyard, leaned No — quietly dissenting from a verdict the rest of the fandom had already locked in within three days.

  • The Flip · No led through day 2; Yes took over on day 3 for good
  • Long Plateau · Margin crept from 54% to 65% over 300 days
  • Gender Gap · Yes voters ran 95% female, No only 87%
  • Ireland Holds Out · Ireland leaned No while the UK and US leaned Yes
