Square Off Season 1 Wild Card Contenders
by Square Off: The Firm Debates
In a Facebook poll of 6,141 respondents, 26.4% chose “University of San Carlos”. How we count
St. Louis University came out swinging, leading by 30% after day one. But by day 2 University of San Carlos stormed past and held a steady ~27-28% cushion the rest of the way, closing out the 5-day, 6,141-vote battle at 26.4% to finish 274 votes clear of Ateneo de Davao in second and St. Louis in third.
The real fault line wasn't school pride — it was geography. Philippines' 3,868 voters powered San Carlos to the top, but flip to the diaspora and the map flips too: the U.S.'s 248 voters leaned St. Louis, while Hong Kong, Canada, the U.K., Australia, and Singapore all leaned Ateneo de Davao. University of the East never contended, stalling at 0.3%.
- Day 2 flip · St. Louis' early lead vanished as San Carlos surged ahead for good.
- Home vs. diaspora split · Philippines backed San Carlos; expats abroad favored Ateneo de Davao and St. Louis.
- Nonstop finish · San Carlos' 26-28% lead barely moved from day 2 through day 5.
- Dead last · University of the East managed just 17 votes, a mere 0.3% share.
