In a Facebook poll of 5,627 respondents, 48% chose “لا”. How we count
لا jumped ahead on day 1 with a commanding 52% and never let go — a rare wire-to-wire lead across all 238 days. But the margin kept shrinking: down to 49% by day 2, then eroding further to a bare 48% by day 109, where it froze for the rest of the race. Final score: لا 48% (2702) to نعم 47.2% (2654) — a 48-vote margin out of 5627.
The map tells a different story than the final tally. Nine of the ten top countries — Egypt, the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Germany, Qatar, Sweden, the UK — all lean نعم; only Canada favors لا. Women also broke differently: they make up 26% of لا's voters but just 21% of نعم's, tilting female support toward "no" relative to men.
- Unbroken lead · لا led from day 1 through day 238 without ever trailing.
- Nail-biter finish · Just 48 votes separate لا and نعم after 5627 cast.
- Countries favor Yes · 9 of 10 top countries lean نعم; only Canada backs لا.
- Gender gap · Women are 26% of لا voters vs 21% of نعم voters.
