Which zero emission form of transportation holds the most promise?
In a Facebook poll of 2,723 respondents, 27.7% chose “Battery electric”. How we count
Battery electric led every single day of this ten-day poll, but it never got out of the danger zone. It opened with a hollow 100% on day one before real traffic arrived, then spent the rest of the race hovering between a 43% and 58% margin over whoever was in second — first Hydrogen, then Human powered, then Hydrogen again, then Solar. It closed at 27.7%, meaning nearly three in four voters picked something else.
Nine options split 2,723 votes into a genuine fragmented field: Human powered nearly caught up at 24.6%, Hydrogen held a real third at 15.1%, and even Sails and Flywheel storage combined to pull over 4% away from the pack. This wasn't a coronation — it was a plurality squeezed out of a crowded, contested field where five different technologies each cleared 100 votes.
- Plurality, not majority · Battery electric won with just 27.7% of all votes cast.
- Two-horse gap · Human powered trailed the leader by only 3.1 points, 671 to 754.
- Runner-up kept rotating · Second place shifted between Hydrogen, Human powered, and Solar across the days.
