Punjabis abroad answered fast and stayed put: 'ਨਹੀ' jumped from 59% on day one to 70% by day two and held there for the next sixteen days without budging. Of 3,054 votes, 2,141 landed against the move — more than 'ਹਾਂ' and 'ਕੋਈ ਫਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ' combined, twice over.

This wasn't a home-turf verdict. Canada alone cast 667 votes, Australia 369, the US 323 — diaspora hubs that all leaned 'ਨਹੀ' the same way India's 241 did. Nine of the top ten countries agreed; there was no country pulling the other way.
