In a Facebook poll of 4,295 respondents, 36% chose “Paul McCartney”. How we count
Paul McCartney claimed 40% on day one and settled into a stable 36-37% for the rest of the poll's 18 days — a nine-point cushion over Black Eyed Peas that barely moved. With 1,545 votes, he pulled in more than double the combined total of the bottom five acts, turning this into less a horse race than a coronation that was decided before the race began.
The gap tells the real story: while Black Eyed Peas, Rage Against the Machine and Bon Jovi split the remaining vote share for 18 days, none ever closed within 20 points of the front-runner. Brazil and the US, the two biggest voting blocs, both leaned McCartney — the same name topping the tally everywhere it mattered.
- Day-one lead · 40% out of the gate, a margin no rival ever approached
- Bottom-five squeeze · Five acts combined couldn't match McCartney's vote total alone
- Cross-border consensus · Brazil and the US both leaned McCartney despite an ocean between them
