Quale canzone porteresti con te sulla Luna?

Brain Damage/Eclipse pulled 942 votes — more than David Bowie, Frank Sinatra and Loredana Bertè's totals added together (810). It opened at 34% on day one and never drifted outside the 34-35% band for the rest of the poll's run, a flat line no other option came close to threatening.

This wasn't a home-turf fluke. Italy's 1,663 voters backed it, but so did the UK, the US, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain and Canada — eight of the ten biggest voting countries landed on the same song. Only France (Sinatra) and Poland (The Police) picked anyone else.

• Bigger than the rest · 942 votes topped the next three finishers' combined 810.
• Cross-border consensus · Eight of the top ten voting countries backed the same song.
• Flat from day one · Its share never moved off 34-35% across all five days.
