In a Facebook poll of 7,446 respondents, 26.1% chose “Stefano Rodotà”. How we count

Share: ···

Stefano Rodotà never trailed. He opened at 28% and held a steady 29-30% lead for fifteen straight days over Umberto Eco, who couldn't close the gap. Draghi, Prodi and Eco all bunched in the low-to-mid double digits, fighting for a distant second tier while Rodotà's coalition stayed remarkably stable.

The only real movement came in the final stretch: by day 16, Romano Prodi overtook Eco for second place, finishing at 11.8% to Eco's 11.2%. Rodotà's share cooled slightly to 26% as the field consolidated, but nineteen days in, no one ever seriously threatened his lead.

  • Wire-to-wire leader · Rodotà led from day 1 to day 19, never dropping below 26%
  • Late overtake · Prodi passed Eco for second place only after day 15
  • Draghi's foreign base · US voters bucked Italy, favoring Draghi over Rodotà
  • Gender skew · Every candidate drew roughly 2-3x more male than female votes
